BitTorrent Sync Now a Separate, Enterprise-Focused Biz

BitTorrent's 3-year-old Sync service is leaving the nest and changing its name. Going forward, Sync will be an enterprise-focused product known as Resilio Connect , operating separately from BitTorrent. When it launched in 2013 , Sync was seen as a Dropbox competitor, allowing users to synchronize personal files across multiple devices. After operating in tandem for a few years, BitTorrent co-CEO Robert Delamar said in a Thursday statement that "the company would be much stronger, and would unlock tremendous shareholder value, if we were to split the company into distinct consumer media and enterprise businesses." Former BitTorrent CEO Eric Klinker will be in charge of Resilio because it's "the business that he [knows] best: B2B," Delamar wrote. "Jeremy and I are likewise doing the same in the consumer media space." Source: pcmag
